Primary Talk - I am Thankful for my Body

I am Thankful for My Body - I know it is a Temple

God is the father of our spirits. He created our spirits and sent us to earth to receive a body. I am thankful for my body.

I recently learned a hard lesson. In September I had a motorcycle accident and had a compound fracture of my finger. My bone was even sticking out. I had to go to the hospital to have it fixed.  That’s when I learned my lesson.
I no longer could do the things that used to be easy for me. I couldn’t play sports.  I couldn’t get dressed by myself.  I needed help all the time.

One day when I was really sad and frustrated,  I told my mom that I wish I had never gotten on that motorcycle and broken my finger. Even though my finger is just a small part of my body, it made a big difference on the things I could do.  I realized how thankful I am for my body and want to keep it strong, healthy, and safe.

Some of you may have a toy or doll or stuffed animal that you have had for a long time that means a lot to you.  Imagine how you would feel if someone took that special thing and broke it or treated it without respect.
I think that is how Heavenly Father feels when we don’t take care of our bodies.  Each of us are children of a Heavenly Father who loves us. Our bodies are a gift from Him.  In the scriptures they are sometimes called a “temple”, which means they are special to Him and He wants us to take care of them and treat them with respect.

I hope we will all realize how important our bodies are and be thankful for them and most of all, treat them with respect. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
